Various paranormal events have been reported at this location for many years, and have been written about in local publications, including Mountain Home Magazine. Reported events include:
The "ghost" is referred to as "George" by the staff. They are not sure where the name came from. They claim to get the feeling of a comforting male presence. All of the current staff is female. |

The owner, and several employees were interviewed. The owner stated that it had been pretty quiet in terms of activity lately. That turned out to be true with our investigation.
Base EMF readings were close to 0Mg @50-60 Hz, with the exceptions of the areas around a large cooler and a coffee machine. Infrared CCTV camera was set up in the back kitchen, while the Infrared Hi8 was covering the front of the restaurant. There was audio recording set up in the back kitchen, and in the front restaurant during the length of the investigation. EVP sessions were conducted with a digital recorder as well. I experienced a couple of unusual equipment issues right at the start. One, the recorder for the CCTV camera would not record. The system was function-checked prior to arriving at the location and in good working order. I could not find any reason why it would not work. A short time later I tried again and it worked perfectly. Also, while performing a walk-through and taking still pictures the batteries in the camera died. They were fresh new batteries inserted only 10 min. prior. While performing an EVP session in the dining room, the EMF meter spiked several times quickly then stopped. I could not recreate it nor determine the source of the transient electro-magnetic field. After interviewing the staff about the radio, I investigated it and tried to recreate the radio turning off by itself. I could not recreate the event, however the radio had many crackles and pops, was located in a high-heat area, and was coverered in flour dust. My opinion is that the radio may in fact be malfunctioning due to the extreme conditions it's kept in. The back storeroom felt very different than the rest of the place. I experienced a strong feeling of being watched. I suspected high EMF may be the cause, but the readings were flat. I was not able to identify an environmental cause for the feeling at the time. |

Other than a few curious things happening, the investigation was pretty uneventful. Post-Investigation Note: In reference to the name "George", research has discovered that there was a George Traviss(sp) executed by hanging, directly across the street from this location in January, 1885. He was hung for murdering a young woman, but professed his innocense to the end. At this time it is undetermined what connection, if any, he has to this case. |
